Calculation scheme

Hereinafter, reference will be made to a Soil Nailing wall based on the scheme depicted in Figure 2.

Specifically, in the scheme illustrated in Figure 2, the various excavation phases are characterized by a variable depth, which corresponds to the vertical spacing between the reinforcements, Sv,i, while the total height of the wall is denoted as H. Each nail is characterized by a length and a variable inclination. Both the face of the wall and the soil behind it can be inclined. For clarity, Figure 2 depicts the situation of a homogeneous and dry soil, but in general, the soil can be stratified, and considerations can be made for the presence of a water table.
