Static Probing

Static Probing provides a tool for the recording, management, processing and archiving of readings obtained from static soil penetration tests, in a reactive continuous graphic environment, supported by a database of correlative methods and parameters for the determination of soil types, aimed at the generation of a comprehensive mapping of the subsurface.

The graphic display and process support enables the soil to be catalogued, parameterized and compared with adjacent soil tests to gain an insight of the stratigraphy encountered.

The soil penetration test provides fairly precise information regarding the depth of boundary levels in the substrata, depth of water table, breach surfaces on slopes as well as the general consistency of the soil.

The use of the data should be treated with caution and critical discrimination augmented by local geotechnical knowledge.

Choosing the type of lithological interpretation (recommended or not depending on the type of penetrometer used) we get an automatic stratigraphy with the step of the instrument and automatic interpolation of the layers. The program also creates the Depth/Lithological evaluations graphic (for various authors), to display directly the stratigraphy along the investigated vertical.

Soil section mapping, tailored to other Geostru software, can be generated for lines connecting test borings.

Penetrometric probes enable fairly accurate evaluations of the depth of lithologic boundaries in the substrata, depth of water table, breach surfaces on slopes as well as the general consistency of the terrain.
